What we teach

Every subject is matched on specification and exam board, not just the subject name.

11+ and selective-school admissions

School-specific preparation, not generic practice papers.

Where suitable, one tutor supports the student across subjects, reasoning, school selection and interviews.

  • Queen Elizabeth's School, Barnet
  • The Henrietta Barnett School
  • Reasoning, English, Maths and interviews

GCSE subject tuition

Matched by subject, exam board and academic need.

Tutors are matched on subject, exam board, availability, learning preferences and teaching style.

  • Maths
  • Biology, Chemistry, Physics
  • English

A-Level subject tuition

Depth, exam technique and independent study habits.

Specialists who know the specification and the mark scheme, matched to how the student works best.

  • Maths
  • Biology, Chemistry, Physics
  • Coursework and revision planning

UCAT preparation

Section-by-section, built around the student's timeline.

Matching considers section strengths, tutor performance, teaching style, availability and the student's test date.

  • Verbal reasoning and decision making
  • Quantitative reasoning
  • Situational judgement

Medical-school applications and interviews

Personal statements, university choice and interview practice.

Matching considers target universities, tutor offers and experience, interview formats and availability.

  • MMI and panel formats
  • University selection
  • Application review

How it works

  1. Book a free consultation

A short conversation about the student, the goals and the timeline. No obligation.

  2. We review the requirements

Subject, exam board, target school or university, availability and learning preferences are recorded.

  3. We recommend a tutor

Every recommendation is reviewed and approved by a person before it reaches you.

  4. Free compatibility trial

A short trial lesson, attended silently by Tutivate where appropriate, so you can judge the fit.

  5. You confirm, lessons begin

Paid lessons start once you are happy with the match. Progress is reviewed as you go.

A person reviews every match before you meet a tutor

Recommendations are ranked on structured information, then read, sense-checked and approved by a member of the team. Nothing is automatic.

Subject or service
The specific paper, specification or admissions test.
Exam board
AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC and IB where relevant.
School or university relevance
Tutors who know the target school or course.
Teaching and learning fit
Pace, structure and the style the student responds to.
Availability
Real overlap in the week, not best intentions.
Tutor experience
Track record with the same stage and goal.

How tutors are selected

Tutivate recruits experienced university-student tutors directly through university networks.

Each tutor is reviewed by Tutivate before they can be introduced to families.

Tutors record their subjects, exam boards, levels and availability, so matching works from detail rather than guesswork.

Every match is proposed by Tutivate and approved by a person before you meet a tutor.

Parent questions

How does the matching work?

We collect structured information from you, the student and our tutors, then rank tutors on subject, exam board, school or university relevance, availability, teaching fit, experience and capacity. Every recommendation is reviewed and approved by an administrator before you see it.

What does the free trial involve?

A short compatibility lesson between the student and the recommended tutor. It is free to you and, where appropriate, attended silently by Tutivate so we can check the fit ourselves.

What does it cost?

Lessons start from £25 per hour. Pricing is confirmed at your consultation, and there is nothing to pay for the consultation or the compatibility trial.

Are lessons online?

Yes. Lessons run online with a secure lesson link, which keeps scheduling flexible and gives you access to tutors beyond your postcode.

Do you guarantee grades or school places?

No. No honest tutoring service can. We commit to careful matching, specific preparation and clear reporting on progress.
